Listen – full transparency, there are days when as much as I have an idea of what I'd like to wear and what I want it to look like on me, I then grab pieces from my wardrobe, try them on, and upon standing in the mirror it's just not happening. But that’s ok and we shouldn’t let that stop us or discourage us from being motivated to pull a different look together.
This is why I say it’s always good to diversify our wardrobes to include various options that include fabrics and pieces that will allow for forgiveness.
As women the life cycle of our bodies are a thing. And if you haven’t experienced this yet, just keep living. Whether it’s our monthly cycles, moments of indulgence when we had to have a few extra bites of our favorite meal or snack, or common bodily changes that happen to us all over time, sometimes the way our bodies may show up for us in our clothing or not is a thing.
So here are my 3 tips and takeaways for what to do when our bodies decide to tell us what to wear:
1. Do not be discouraged or give up; give yourself grace and know that you can still pull a look together and look fabulous!
2. Include wardrobe pieces that allow for forgiveness, i.e. size up in a few go to pieces and purchase oversized options that you can wear to mask areas of your body that you know don’t always reveal your most flattering attributes during those trying moments.
3. Invest in shapewear. Shapewear is not only for the plus sized woman. There are a number of shapewear options for all body types and all sizes and they can sometimes work magic when it comes to pulling a look together.
